ABOUT US
Growing up around art and metalwork, along with living on the border of Nairobi National Park, inspired the idea for me to start a jewellery company (my childhood was literally spent on the edge of the National Game Park, where lions, leopards and buffalos would wonder onto our garden at night).
My Dad is an artist, specialising in bronze wildlife sculptures. He founded Matbronze in 1987, Kenya's first bronze foundry, which has a beautiful art gallery in Kenya. Matbronze is where his team casts, grinds, chases and polishes his sculptures.
Safaria Silver is like a mini-Matbronze - we both use lost-wax casting, we both have workshops, we both carve and mold our original pieces by hand, mine are just all on a much littler scale! Like my father, after finishing a carving in wax I then cast these designs into pure 925 Sterling Silver or 940 Argentium sterling silver (a silver that is purer, brighter and stronger than traditional 925 sterling silver).
Safaria has now grown into a busy little team, and we now supply some of Kenya's top-end Safari lodges. I absolutely love designing jewellery, and hope you follow our journey as we continue to learn and grow!
